•  2016 Parade Dignitaries

It is with great pleasure that we introduce this year’s Dignitaries. Our 2016 Grand Marshal is Mary Ellen Clyne. Mary Ellen is the President and CEO of Clara Maass Medical Center. She is the first person to earn a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees in nursing at Seton Hall University, where she also serves as a clinical and adjunct professor. Dr. Clyne has received a variety of personal awards and recognition, including the 2014 Humanitarian Award from the John V. Kelly Memorial Foundation and was named Essex County Irishwoman of the Year in 2013. Mary Ellen and her husband Gerard live in Hillsborough with their three children.

Our 2016 Deputy Grand Marshal is John Kruse.  John is a Nutley resident and active member of the NIAA for the past 10 years. Born and raised in Jersey City, John is a Hudson Catholic High School graduate and a Firefighter for Jersey City for 22 years. A coach for both baseball and basketball, John is the proud father of John Jr., Christopher and Natalie.

The NIAA Member of the Year is Maureen Connor. Maureen was raised in Lyndhurst and moved to Nutley 21 years ago with her husband Noel. She works for Xerox as a Senior Accountant and is the proud mother of 5 children. Maureen does a lot of volunteer work with Nutley sports programs and for St. Mary’s Church, where she is an active parishioner.

Our 2016 Queen is Marykate Hood. Marykate is a senior at William Paterson University graduating with her Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations this May and currently works at Clara Maass Medical Center. Born and raised in Belleville, her grandmother, Mary Lou Hood, was one of the three founders of the Belleville Irish American Association.

Our Police Officer of the Year is Ryan Mulligan. Born in Belleville, Ryan has lived in Nutley since 1979 and is in his 13th year of service as a Nutley Police Officer. He graduated from Nutley High School and received his BA from Montclair University. Ryan currently resides in Glen Ridge with his fiancé Simona.
