St. Patrick's Day Parade Wrap-Up
The Nutley Irish American Alliance's 32nd Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade was held March 6th along Franklin Ave. on a beautiful sunny day. This year's parade was dedicated to John V. Kelly who helped in the organization of the first formal parade in 1979 and then served as chairman of the parade until his death this past October. John will always be the spirit of the Nutley Irish, and we express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Kelly family. The parade was the largest and longest ever and lasted nearly two hours.
Jack Kane, this year's Grand Marshal, is a life-long Nutley resident whose family emigrated from Ireland in the mid-to-late 1800's. He is a long-time leader of the Stuart D. Edgar VFW Post 493 in Nutley. A Nutley High School graduate, Jack served in the Korean War and is actively involved in a number of community organizations, including the Nutley Irish American Alliance.
